What Is Soothing Postcare?

What Is Soothing Postcare and When Is It Used?

Soothing Postcare is a recovery protocol of cooling, calming skincare, LED light and a hydrating mask. It follows heat-based or energy-based treatments such as laser, radiofrequency or microneedling to help skin feel calmer, and can be booked alone for sunburn or flare-ups. It adds about 20 to 30 minutes to a visit.

Energy-based treatments create controlled stress on the skin, and aftercare is part of the plan. For skin prone to pigment changes, keeping heat and inflammation down matters. A physician assessment decides what suits you, and this care supports rather than replaces the aftercare instructions you are given.

Calming and Cooling

Controlled cooling and soothing products help reduce the heat and redness felt after treatment.

Barrier Support

A hydrating mask and barrier-supporting products help the skin settle.

Standalone Option

It can also be booked for sunburn or a flare-up, as the physician advises.

FAQ

Soothing Postcare Questions Answered

Is Soothing Postcare needed after every treatment?+

No. It is often added after heat-based or more intensive treatments, such as laser, radiofrequency or microneedling, when the skin feels hot, tight or red. After milder treatments it is optional. The physician can suggest whether it is worth adding to your plan, based on the treatment you are having and how your skin usually reacts.

Can I just put ice on my face at home?+

Brief, careful cooling at home can help, but ice placed directly on freshly treated skin can irritate or injure it. In the clinic the cooling is temperature-controlled and is combined with calming products, LED light and a hydrating mask. Whatever you do at home, follow the aftercare instructions you were given for your main treatment.

Does it help sunburn or a redness flare?+

It can be booked on its own to help sunburned, windburned or flushed skin feel calmer and cooler. It eases heat and redness but does not treat the underlying cause, such as rosacea or dermatitis, which a physician should assess. Seek medical care promptly for blistering, severe swelling, fever or pain that is getting worse.

How long does it take?+

It adds about 20 to 30 minutes to your visit, or takes about that long as a standalone appointment. It can follow a laser or energy treatment straight away, or be booked on another day for sunburn or a flare. Mention it when you book a longer procedure so enough time is set aside.

What products are used?+

Professional soothing formulations, including products from the SkinCeuticals line, a sterile hydrating mask and barrier-supporting products. The selection depends on the treatment you had and how sensitive your skin is. If you have known allergies or ingredient sensitivities, tell the team before the session so the products can be checked.

Can it be done on its own?+

Yes. It can be booked as a standalone SOS treatment for sunburn, windburn or a redness flare, to help bring down heat and discomfort. It is a comfort and recovery treatment, not a medical treatment for a skin condition, so ongoing or unexplained redness should still be assessed by a physician.

Why does aftercare matter for darker skin tones?+

Heat and inflammation can trigger darkening (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) in melanin-rich skin, which is common among Asian and darker skin tones. Keeping the skin calm after treatment and protecting it from sun are part of planning for that risk. Aftercare supports recovery, but it cannot guarantee that pigment changes will not occur.

What should I do at home afterwards?+

Follow the instructions for your main treatment. In general: cleanse gently, keep the area moisturized, use sunscreen daily and avoid direct sun, and do not pick or rub the skin. Avoid touching the area more than needed for the first few hours, and contact the clinic if you notice an unusual reaction.

Which treatments is it commonly paired with?+

It is most often paired with laser, radiofrequency, ultrasound and microneedling treatments, where the skin can feel hot or red afterwards. It can also follow other procedures when extra calming is wanted. The physician or team can tell you whether adding it makes sense for the treatment you have booked.

Is LED light safe?+

LED light used in the clinic does not heat the skin and is generally well tolerated. Tell the team if you take medication that makes your skin sensitive to light, have a light-sensitive condition or are pregnant, so they can advise whether the LED step suits you.
