No. The scan is non-contact: cameras take photographs while you rest your chin in the imaging unit and close your eyes when prompted. Nothing touches the skin and there is no heat. The imaging dome encloses your face, which can feel confined for some people, so mention claustrophobia in advance and the team will walk you through it.

Imaging takes about 10 to 15 minutes. With your skin history, preparation and a review of the results, the full visit runs about 30 to 45 minutes. There is no recovery time, so you can return to work or your day straight afterwards.

Yes. Makeup, sunscreen and skincare products change how light reflects from the skin and interfere with the readings, especially for spots, redness and pores. Come with clean skin if you can, or the team can help remove products at the clinic before imaging. You can reapply makeup and sunscreen once the scan is done.

During an active treatment course, repeat scans a few months apart let you compare images taken in the same position and lighting. Scanning too often shows little change, because skin responds gradually. If you are not in a treatment course, an occasional scan can still be a useful record. Your plan may differ.

No. VISIA records the appearance of the skin; it is not a test for skin cancer, does not diagnose any condition and does not replace a physician assessment. If something on the images or during the visit needs a closer look, the team will tell you and advise on next steps. Any new, changing or bleeding spot should be checked by a doctor.

A consultation is a conversation and examination: your history, concerns and what the clinician sees. VISIA adds standardized images and eight analyses to that conversation, including UV and red/brown views the eye cannot separate. The images also give a record to compare against if you start treatment.

Yes. UV imaging can show UV spots beneath the surface that are not yet visible to the eye, which reflect past sun exposure. They are a prompt for sun protection and, if you wish, a discussion of pigment treatments. They are not a diagnosis, and how they change over time varies from person to person.

Yes. The scan works across skin tones, and the brown-spot and UV views are often useful for pigment concerns such as post-inflammatory marks, melasma and sun spots, which are common in Asian skin. Scores are compared with reference data, and interpretation, which takes your skin type and history into account, is part of the physician review.
