What is HydraPeel® Scalp?

Medical-Grade Scalp Care

Everyday shampooing cleans the hair shaft but rarely clears the follicle opening. HydraPeel® Scalp uses a vortex-tip handpiece to simultaneously soften oxidised sebum and product buildup, extract it under gentle suction, and immediately infuse hair-growth serums—reaching depths ordinary washing cannot achieve.

HydraPeel® Scalp is well-suited as a standalone monthly treatment for oily scalp, mild flaking, or post-product buildup, and as a preparatory step before hair-restoration procedures such as PRP or exosome therapy. By clearing follicular pathways, the treatment may help topical minoxidil and other scalp actives absorb more effectively. Note: HydraPeel® Scalp is a scalp health and preparation treatment—it is not a hair-regrowth therapy on its own.

Sebum & Buildup Extraction

Vortex suction clears oxidised oil, dead keratinocytes, and product residue from follicle openings that regular washing leaves behind.

Scalp Barrier Reset

Gentle pH-balanced exfoliation removes excess stratum corneum without stripping the scalp's protective acid mantle—safe for colour-treated hair.

Targeted Serum Infusion

Hair-growth peptides and antioxidants are delivered directly into freshly cleared follicles for enhanced absorption and scalp nourishment.

How the Protocol Works

Advanced Scalp Solutions

The HydraPeel® handpiece creates a closed vortex of mild cleansing solution around each follicle, softening debris while suction simultaneously removes it. The same pass infuses customised serums—making the extraction and nourishment steps simultaneous rather than sequential.

Vortex-Tip Extraction

A specially designed scalp tip generates a micro-vortex that dislodges compacted sebum and dead skin without mechanical abrasion.

Scalp Analysis

Professional trichoscopy-assisted assessment of sebum level, follicle density, and scalp barrier condition before treatment.

Customised Serums

Serum selection is tailored to your concern—oil control, anti-inflammatory actives, or peptide-rich growth-factor blends.

Growth-Support Infusion

Bioactive peptides and antioxidants are infused post-extraction to support follicle health and a favourable scalp microenvironment.

The SkinArtMD Difference

Physician-Led Scalp Care

At SkinArtMD Burnaby, HydraPeel® Scalp is performed under Dr. Sharon Fong's clinical protocols rather than a generic spa menu. Our team understands Asian scalp characteristics—typically higher sebum output and thicker hair shafts—and adjusts serum selection and extraction pressure accordingly.

1

Dr. Sharon Fong, CPSBC

Every HydraPeel® Scalp protocol is designed and supervised by Dr. Fong, a CPSBC-registered physician with training in aesthetic medicine. Medical oversight means your scalp is assessed clinically, not just cosmetically.

2

Asian Hair & Scalp Expertise

Asian hair tends toward oilier scalps and thicker shafts. We calibrate suction levels and serum actives to suit these characteristics, and our protocols are gentle enough for colour-treated hair.

3

Combination Therapy Pathway

HydraPeel® Scalp pairs naturally with PRP and exosome hair treatments offered at SkinArtMD. Cleared follicular channels help maximise absorption of these advanced therapies.

4

Mandarin & Cantonese Service

Our Burnaby team consults in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese—so you can discuss your scalp concerns and treatment plan in the language you're most comfortable with.

Full-Scalp Coverage

Full Scalp Treatment

The HydraPeel® handpiece is systematically worked across all scalp zones, with focused attention on areas of high sebum production or follicle congestion identified during your pre-treatment assessment.

Crown & Vertex

Common thinning area—receives targeted peptide infusion after thorough sebum extraction.

Temples & Hairline

Sensitive zone prone to product residue from styling aids; addressed with lower extraction pressure.

Nape & Back

Frequently congested from heat and friction during sleep; benefits from targeted cleansing.

Overall Scalp

A full systematic pass ensures balanced oil control and serum distribution across the entire scalp.

Part Line

UV-exposed and high-visibility zone; UV-protective antioxidant infusion prioritised here.

Occipital Region

Dense hair coverage can trap heat and sebum; deep extraction improves comfort and hygiene.

Treatment Process

Your Scalp Treatment Journey

Your appointment runs approximately 30–45 minutes, from scalp assessment through extraction and serum infusion. Dr. Fong's team will walk you through aftercare before you leave—there is no downtime and most clients return to normal activities immediately.

Pre-Treatment

1

Avoid heavy waxes, dry shampoo, or strong hold sprays for 24 hours before—come with your natural scalp state

2

Arrive with unwashed or lightly washed hair so practitioners can assess your baseline scalp condition

3

Inform us of any known scalp sensitivities, current topical medications (e.g., minoxidil), or recent chemical services

4

Allow approximately 30–45 minutes for your session including the initial scalp assessment

5

Let us know about recent scalp treatments, laser procedures, or injections in the past 4 weeks

During Treatment

1

Scalp Assessment

Dr. Fong's team evaluates sebum levels, follicle congestion, scalp sensitivity, and any areas of concern before selecting your serum protocol.

2

Cleansing & Extraction

The vortex-tip handpiece moves systematically across all scalp zones, softening and extracting sebum, dead skin cells, and product buildup from follicle openings.

3

Exfoliation

pH-balanced exfoliation clears residual keratin buildup without disrupting the scalp's natural barrier—gentle enough for colour-treated hair.

4

Serum Infusion

Hair-growth peptides, antioxidants, or anti-inflammatory actives are infused into freshly cleared follicles for maximum absorption and scalp recovery.

Post-Treatment

1

Avoid washing hair for 24 hours to allow infused peptides and serums to absorb fully

2

Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo for the first few washes after treatment

3

Avoid scratching or vigorous towel-rubbing of the scalp for 48 hours

4

Resume topical minoxidil or other scalp treatments after 24 hours unless advised otherwise

5

Maintenance frequency: monthly for general scalp health; every 1–2 weeks for an intensive 3–4 session course when preparing for PRP or exosome therapy

View Before & After

*HydraPeel® Scalp is a scalp health and preparatory treatment. It is not a standalone hair-regrowth therapy. Results vary by individual scalp condition, treatment frequency, and any concurrent hair-restoration therapies. Consult Dr. Sharon Fong for a personalised assessment.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

How often should I get HydraPeel® Scalp treatment?+

For general scalp maintenance, monthly sessions work well for most clients. If you're preparing for PRP or exosome hair therapy, a short intensive course of 3–4 sessions spaced 1–2 weeks apart may be recommended beforehand. Dr. Fong will suggest a schedule based on your scalp assessment.

Will it help with hair loss?+

HydraPeel® Scalp is a scalp health treatment, not a hair-loss cure. By clearing follicular buildup and improving scalp circulation, it can create a more receptive environment for hair growth—and may enhance the results of concurrent PRP or exosome therapy. It does not address androgenetic alopecia on its own. Dr. Fong can discuss appropriate combination approaches during your consultation.

Is it painful?+

Most clients describe the treatment as comfortable—a light warm or tingling sensation during extraction, followed by a cool feeling during serum infusion. The scalp handpiece is adjusted for your sensitivity level. There is no downtime and most clients return to work or daily activities immediately after.

Can I wash my hair after treatment?+

We recommend waiting 24 hours before washing to allow the infused peptides and serums to absorb fully. When you do wash, use a gentle sulfate-free shampoo and avoid vigorous scalp scrubbing for the first 48 hours.

How is this different from a scalp massage or regular shampoo treatment?+

Scalp massages work at the surface level and rely on manual pressure. HydraPeel® uses a vortex-tip device with calibrated suction to physically extract sebum and buildup from follicle openings, then infuses medical-grade serums at a depth that topical products cannot achieve on their own.

Is there any downtime after HydraPeel® Scalp?+

There is no downtime. You can return to work immediately after your session. We recommend avoiding high-heat environments (sauna, hot yoga) and vigorous exercise for 24 hours, as perspiration may reduce serum absorption. No need to reschedule your day.
